Brimham rocks is a National Trust property and a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with huge rock formations, created by an ancient river and the action of ice and wind, set in heather moorland. For the photos below, we visited late afternoon in Autumn, when wonderful side-lighting emphasised the shapes of the rock formations, and the low sun illuminated the stunted shapes of the trees in the woodland adjacent to the rocks. There are many bird boxes in the woodland, so it’s worth keeping your eyes open for woodland birds. There is a Brimham Photographic Society who visit and photograph the rocks regularly – their Flickr site is worth a look for inspiration.
